Building the Brand for Dutch Digital Design, a Collective of Nearly 40 Top Dutch Agencies

Dutch Digital Design is a network of the best digital design agencies across the Netherlands. Co-developed by Momkai, the network taps into the power of the collective to celebrate the incredible work being done by Dutch designers, strategists, and developers.

Momkai took on the challenge of creating a brand identity strong enough to unite this diverse network and a brand emblem that everyone would be proud to display.

A Collective Mission

The goal of Dutch Digital Design is to increase the visibility of the incredible industry of digital design in the Netherlands. In order to do that, Momkai made sure they had a recognizable identity and the tools needed to start spreading the word.

Our team designed a sophisticated visual identity in which the Dutch national color, orange, played a dominant role. Later, Lowres Studio added a dynamic purple tone and gradient effect — making this identity a truly collaborative effort. Momkai also led the design and development of the DDD platform, highlighting and spotlighting curated cases from agencies across the Netherlands. With this tool, select designers can curate the best work and give it a platform to reach the world.

An Icon that Celebrates the Iconic

To create a strong sense of connection from day one, we set out to create a brand identity that every DDD member can be proud of. The motion logo is based on three intertwining D’s, representing the united power of disciplines within Dutch digital design.

All throughout the design process, we were challenged by our greatest critics: other designers. This helped us create a unified visual identity that boldly stands out at global events like SXSW, Cannes, and Dutch Design Week — drawing attention to the Dutch Digital Design collective in a way that is out of reach for agencies on their own.

Expertise in Action

At Momkai, we love to see our projects through. For Dutch Digital Design, that meant not just taking a deep dive into their visual identity, strategy and presence, but also participating as an agency in the network.

Our lead designer Martijn van Dam serves as an expert DDD curator, hosts sessions in our own studio, and helps spotlight the best digital Dutch work. We also join as presenters during Dutch Design Week, and are delighted to join our peers in knowledge sharing sessions at partner dinners.
